Psalm 130:3 (NLT) — “Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?”
Imagine a massive ledger where every secret thought, every cold shoulder, every sharp word, and every selfish motive was written in indelible, blood-red ink. If God were merely a cosmic bookkeeper, the sheer weight of that book would crush the world. To stand before the Creator as we truly are—without a mask, without a defense attorney, and without an excuse—is a terrifying prospect. We would vanish like mist before the heat of a furnace.
Today, sit in the weight of that reality. Don’t rush to the “solution” just yet. Feel the “impossibility” of your own goodness and the absolute perfection of the One you have offended. If the record remained open, there would be no hope. But we do not stand alone before the ledger. We look to Jesus Christ, our Advocate, who nailed that record to His cross. To survive the judgment is a miracle of grace, where the red ink of our sin is hidden beneath the red blood of our Savior.
Prayer: Holy God, I have no defense for my record. I trust only in the blood of Jesus to wash the ledger clean. Amen.
