“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
Picture the sun, not as a distant star, but as a burning heart of pure, sacrificial light pouring itself out into a cold, dark garden. The “world” is not an abstract concept; it is the soil, the sea, and every breaking heart within it. God looked upon a creation that had withered under the frost of death and, instead of turning away, He gave the very best of Himself. He unclasped His only Son from His side and placed Him into the fragile, hurting hands of humanity. It was a gift of cosmic proportion, a divine exchange where the Eternal stepped into time so that the temporal could step into eternity.
Allow the weight of this “giving” to press against our hearts. We are not faces in a crowd to Him; we are the objects of a love so intense it was willing to endure the ultimate loss. May we be transformed by the realization that we were worth the life of the Son. Let this certainty wash away our fear of perishing and replace it with the quiet, unshakable joy of being kept forever.
Prayer: Father, I am overwhelmed by the cost of my life. Thank You for giving Your only Son to rescue a world that didn’t know how to rescue itself. Teach me to live as one who is truly, eternally alive. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
