“Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” — 1 Corinthians 15:54-55
The first light of dawn breaks over the horizon, catching the dew on the grass and the shattered seal of the tomb. The ground trembles once more, not in agony, but in a jubilant recognition that the Earth can no longer hold its King. The stone has been rolled back like a discarded pebble, revealing an empty space where the linen cloths lie neatly folded, a silent testimony to a peaceful and orderly triumph. The air is no longer heavy with spices, but fresh with the scent of new creation, as the Lion of Judah steps out of the shadows and into the morning sun, breathing the air of a world made new.
The Resurrection is the Father’s “Amen” to the work of the Cross, the ultimate proof that the sacrifice was sufficient and the debt was paid in full. Because He rose, the “sting” of death—its power to separate and destroy—has been forever neutralized. We no longer look at the grave as a dead end, but as a doorway, because the One who went through it first has come back to lead us home. The empty tomb is the cornerstone of our faith, the guarantee that the love which died for us is the love that lives for us. We are a people born of the Resurrection, finding our eternal life in the risen Jesus.
Prayer: Almighty God, I praise You for the glorious victory of the Resurrection that has changed everything. Thank You that because He lives, I can face tomorrow and all the tomorrows to come with joy. Fill me with the power of the empty tomb so that I may live a life that reflects Your triumph. I celebrate the life, the breath, and the eternal hope I have in my living King, Jesus. Amen.
