“After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.” — 1 Corinthians 15:6
Imagine a stadium filled with hundreds of people, all pointing to the same miraculous event, their testimonies weaving together into an unbreakable cord of truth. When Paul wrote these words, he was issued a public challenge: “Go and ask them; they are still here.” This wasn’t a private vision shared by a few grieving friends; it was a public appearance to a massive crowd of followers. Five hundred pairs of eyes saw the same light; five hundred hearts felt the same surge of hope. The Resurrection was a communal earthquake that leveled the landscape of the old world and built a new one on the site of the empty tomb.
Being part of the body of Christ means we are part of this cloud of witnesses. We stand on the shoulders of those who saw Him, and we carry their testimony into our own generation. The sheer scale of this revelation proves that the Resurrection is for everyone—for the crowd as much as the individual. We are never alone in our faith, for we are joined to a great family that spans centuries, all united by the same core confession. We find our place in the long, glorious line of those who have seen the glory of Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for the cloud of witnesses that surrounds me and for the countless lives that have been transformed by the sight of Your glory. Help me to realize that I am part of a great and triumphant family that death cannot divide. Grant me the boldness to add my own voice to this chorus, testifying to Your grace in my own life today. I join with the hundreds and the millions who have found their hope in the name of Jesus. Amen.
