Psalm 91 Day 7: The Holy Inhabitant

If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. (Psalm 91:9-10)

Imagine our homes surrounded by an invisible, glowing perimeter that no darkness can cross. It is a sanctuary of the “Most High.” When we “make” the Lord our refuge, we are performing a sacred act of consecration, choosing to host the Presence of God in our living rooms, our workplaces, and our hearts. The imagery is of a life so saturated with the Divine that “evil” finds no purchase; it simply cannot survive in the atmosphere of His holiness that surrounds us, much like darkness cannot exist in the presence of light.

This is an invitation to intentionality—faith applied to the everyday. We must “make” Him our shelter, which is a daily, conscious choice to prioritize His Kingdom over our own comforts. Trust that when you host the Presence, His protection extends to your “home”—not just the building, but your family, your mind, and your legacy. He is the ultimate barrier against the plagues of the soul, providing a spiritual quarantine against the sickness of sin. Let us give Him the keys to every room in our lives today, believing that where He dwells, safety resides.

Prayer: Lord, I make You my refuge and my primary shelter today. I invite Your presence into my home and my heart, asking that You would be the wall of fire around me. Protect my family from every form of evil and sickness. May Your holiness define the atmosphere of my life. Amen.
