Psalm 91 Day 9: The Overcomer

You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.” (Psalm 91:13-14)

Imagine us as once-terrified people now walking with authority, stepping firmly over the very things that used to paralyze us with fear. The “lion” represents the loud, roaring threats of life, while the “cobra” represents the hidden, venomous attacks of the enemy. In this image, we aren’t just surviving; we are “trampling” and “crushing.” We are moving from victims to victors because the Lord Himself has pledged to “rescue” those who love Him.

God doesn’t just want to hide us; He wants to empower us. He is the one who gives us the strength to face our “lions.” He promises to protect us not because we are perfect, but because we “love” Him and “trust in His name.” His name—Yahweh, the Great I Am—is a fortress that we can run into. Let us trust that He is the source of our authority. We can face our biggest fears today because He is standing right beside us.

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to face the lions and serpents in my life. I thank You for the authority You give me to overcome the enemy’s attacks. I love You and I put all my trust in Your mighty name. Rescue me from my fears and lead me in victory. Amen.
